As both a choral and solo singer, I have found the Canto Libero method, as taught by Marketa, a valuable, sustaining and healthy approach for voice. I was her student for six years and in that time, my confidence and technique grew through her rigorous and attentive tuition, helping me to achieve a Grade 8 distinction in singing with the ABRSM.

I have very much enjoyed her informal performance sessions for students in her house and biannual public concerts, as well as annual workshops with other tutors in the Szamosi method. I have found all her events hugely beneficial for both my musical growth and for enjoyment of singing with a like-minded community.

I highly recommend Marketa as a singing teacher not only for your healthy vocal technique but also for the experience of learning within a musical family.

Nick Day, singer and composer

My experience of the Canto Libero approach was very positive.

I was amazed at how I was able to effortlessly expand my range and feel more connected to the sound. It felt very natural and opened up my voice considerably by using the breath more effectively.

I thoroughly enjoyed performing at Marketa's concerts and participating in her workshops. The material that we performed was beautiful and challenging. Marketa is excellent at choosing repertoire to match the voice.

I would highly recommend trained singers / professionals who are looking to further develop their vocal skills to go to Marketa for lessons. Marketa has a very caring personality and puts great emphasis on good vocal health. The Szamosi method is something that all singers should experience through Marketa's expert guidance.

Ruth Gallagher, singer

The Canto Libero approach brings out your authentic voice in the way it educates you how to use all of yourself, all of your body in your performance.  Marketa’s way of teaching this method gives you the skills and confidence to produce a beautiful sound that is uniquely yours. Because each lesson is about you and your voice the way it becomes a part of you and in that way it sounds natural while at the same time strong and musical.

I love performing and it is a real treat to be able to perform at Marketa’s concerts.  Her workshops are invaluable in that they are an ongoing opportunity to learn and also to meet other singers.  With Marketa you are part of a singing community.

I would recommend anyone who is interested in learning how to sing just for themselves and also anyone who would like to join a choir or be a solo performer.

Marketa’s way of teaching is very inclusive and encouraging particularly to someone who is only beginning.  The more experienced singers can also feel at home in the way she has smaller concerts where students can practice the art of performing to an audience that is encouraging and safe.

There are also opportunities to perform in public if you wish to where students can enjoy the experience of singing for an audience.
